It seems like every automaker is introducing their own line of exciting EVs. If you're curious about the latest Ford electric trucks, Ewald's Venus Ford is the perfect dealership to visit. Our Ford dealership near you wants to help you learn why buying an electric truck can be a wonderful decision. Before you visit our showroom to test-drive the electric Ford truck, we'd like to give you some helpful information. By the time you're ready to buy an EV truck, you'll be in a position to make an educated decision. Let's explore the advantages and features offered by the Ford Lightning for sale!

Is the F-150 Lightning hybrid or electric?

The F-150 Lightning is a fully electric truck. However, Ford also offers a hybrid F-150 variant - the Ford F-150 PowerBoost. Both of these trucks for sale will provide superior fuel economy and incredible torque. Let's take a closer look at the differences between the hybrid and electric F-150.

The Ford F-150 PowerBoost sports a twin-turbo 3.5 liter V6 EcoBoost engine paired with an electric motor. The hybrid Ford F-150 will put out a horsepower of 430, and offers 570 lb/ft of torque. When suitably equipped, the hybrid F-150 is rated to tow up to 12,700 lbs. Hybrid trucks offer longer combined driving ranges, thanks to their gas engine.

Ford's electric truck is powered by a fully electric dual-motor, with an available Extended Range Battery. The F-150 Lightning produces 580 horsepower and emits 775 lb/ft of torque. When adequately equipped, the EV Ford F-150 can tow up to 10,000 lbs. Electric trucks provide better fuel economy, as they rely solely on battery power to drive.

What is the range of the electric Ford truck?

There are two battery pack options available for the electric F-150. With the smaller, 98.0-kWh battery, you'll enjoy a driving range of 230 miles per charge. If you select the larger, 131.0-kWh battery, your total driving range will increase to 320 miles on a single charge. The standard-range electric Ford truck earns an EPA-estimated 76 MPGe city and 61 MPGe highway. The extended-range F-150 Lightning offers an estimated 78 MPGe city and 63 MPGe highway.

Can the Ford Lightning charge itself?

One of the best reasons to choose a Ford electric truck is the outstanding efficiency. Not only will you reduce your fuel consumption by driving an electric truck, but your truck can actually charge itself. This Ford in Waukesha features a regenerative  system. Your electric motors will function as generators when you brake, capturing energy from your braking system.

The Ford Lightning for sale also boasts bi-directional charging capability. You can use your truck's battery pack as an electrical source to power other equipment. Think of your truck as a portable generator, complete with a 240-volt outlet in the bed.
